The Goldsboro Strike Eagles FC have been plying their trade in the UPSL’s Southeast Conference, Mid-Atlantic North Division (Division 1). The Strike Eagles won that division in 2019. State 38 spoke briefly with club President, Yacouba Ide Niandou.
Yacouba told us that they made the jump to the new league because it was a better fit for the club than UPSL. He is also doing double-duty as the First Flight League’s President in its debut campaign.
Currently, Goldsboro are in the early stages of creating a U10-U13 youth program.
So far, they have no Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup experience, but are hoping that will change in the near future.
Yacouba cites forward Marcos Reyes and defender Kelvin Portillo as two players the team is looking to for the spring ‘21 season.
